Detailed Description

The Global Investigative Journalism Conference 2027, known as GIJC27, is the 15th edition of the Global Investigative Journalism Conference.

The event will be held in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, with a pre-conference day on 19 October 2027 followed by the main conference from 20 to 23 October 2027.

GIJC27 is organised by the Global Investigative Journalism Network in partnership with De Vereniging van Onderzoeksjournalisten (VVOJ), the Dutch-Flemish Association of Investigative Journalists.

The conference is designed for professional investigative reporters, editors, data journalists and multimedia journalists seeking practical training, new reporting methods and international collaboration.

GIJC27 is expected to feature more than 150 expert panels, workshops and networking activities covering areas including investigative research, artificial intelligence, data journalism, satellite imagery, climate reporting, corruption investigations, cross-border collaboration and journalism in difficult press-freedom environments.

To increase access for journalists who may otherwise be unable to attend, GIJN is offering a competitive fellowship programme.

Full fellows receive major travel and conference expenses, including round-trip airfare to Rotterdam or the nearest major airport, four hotel nights, conference registration and specified meals.

GIJN may also offer partial fellowships depending on available funding.

Applicants should note that the fellowship does not cover every possible expense. Visa fees, per diem and transport between the applicant’s home and their local departure airport are excluded.
