Detailed Description

The Department of Aeronautics MSc Scholarship is offered by Imperial College London to support academically excellent students pursuing postgraduate study in aeronautical and aerospace-related fields.

For the 2027/28 academic year, Imperial is offering two awards. Each scholarship covers the full tuition fee charged to the successful student, whether they are classified as a Home or Overseas student.

There is no separate scholarship application. Applicants are considered automatically if they submit a complete application to one of the eligible Department of Aeronautics MSc programmes by the scholarship deadline.

The three eligible MSc programmes are:

  • MSc Advanced Aeronautical Engineering
  • MSc Advanced Computational Methods for Aeronautics, Flow Management and Fluid-Structure Interaction
  • MSc Composites: The Science, Technology and Engineering Application of Advanced Composites

Academic entry requirements differ between these programmes. For example, Advanced Aeronautical Engineering normally expects a strong background in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, while the Advanced Computational Methods MSc also considers relevant backgrounds in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or Computer Science.

Applicants should therefore check the entry requirements of their chosen MSc rather than assuming that one academic requirement applies to all three programmes.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be prospective students applying for one of the eligible Department of Aeronautics MSc programmes.
  • Applicants must submit a complete MSc application by 1 March 2027 to be considered for the scholarship.
  • The scholarship is available to new entrants only.
  • Students who are already studying the relevant MSc course are not eligible.
  • Both Home and Overseas tuition-fee status applicants are eligible.
  • Applicants must meet the academic entry requirements of their chosen MSc programme.
  • Applicants must meet Imperial College London’s English-language requirement for their chosen MSc programme.
  • International qualifications are accepted, subject to Imperial’s country-specific equivalency requirements.
  • Applicants should demonstrate strong academic achievement.
