Detailed Description
The ISTA Year-Round Scientific Internship allows students and recent graduates to gain practical research experience at the Institute of Science and Technology Austria.
Unlike the separate ISTernship Summer Fellowship, the Year-Round Scientific Internship does not use a central annual application call. Applicants identify an ISTA research group or staff scientist whose work matches their academic background and research interests and contact them directly.
Internships can take place at any time during the year and last between two months and one year. The exact dates are agreed with the host research group.
Scientific interns work within an ISTA research environment and contribute to projects under the supervision of a professor, assistant professor or staff scientist. Depending on the research area, activities may include laboratory research, computational work, mathematical research, data analysis, literature review and other scientific tasks.
ISTA has research groups across areas including biology, chemistry and materials, computer science, data science and scientific computing, mathematics, neuroscience and physics.
Candidates are selected by the relevant research group head or staff scientist. An appointment also depends on sufficient funding being available for the intern’s salary and formal approval from ISTA’s Academic Affairs division.
Eligibility Criteria
