Detailed Description
The World Intellectual Property Organization Internship Programme gives students and recent graduates an opportunity to gain practical experience in an international organisation while contributing to WIPO’s work in innovation, creativity and intellectual property.
WIPO is a specialised agency within the United Nations system. Most internship positions are based at its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, although individual placements may depend on organisational needs.
Interns may work across a range of areas, including intellectual property, law, economics, information technology, project management, administration, communications, translation and other professional fields relevant to WIPO’s work.
The current Internship Roster 26222-INT covers internship opportunities arising during the second half of 2026 and the first half of 2027. It is a general roster rather than a single internship vacancy. WIPO shares suitable applications with relevant departments as opportunities become available.
Applicants should therefore understand that submitting an application does not guarantee placement. Candidates are contacted when their profile matches the requirements of an available internship.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must meet the requirements of either Category I or Category II.
- Final-year Bachelor’s students may be eligible under Category I.
- Students enrolled in postgraduate-level study may be eligible depending on their stage of study.
- Recent graduates may apply if they completed their relevant degree within the previous two years.
- Category II is intended for holders of an advanced university degree or graduate students who have completed their coursework but not yet completed their thesis.
- Applicants need a working knowledge of English and/or French.
- Applicants from diverse geographical backgrounds are welcome.
- There is no specific age limit.
- Former WIPO interns cannot apply for another WIPO internship, regardless of category.
- Previous internship experience with another United Nations organisation does not prevent an applicant from applying.
